Egypt
Cairo is vast, and its traffic shapes every day, so a hotel near the places you most want to see saves hours. Decide between a room on the Nile in the centre, a view of the Pyramids in Giza, or the calmer island of Zamalek, then plan how you will get around.
This guide helps you choose an area. Hotel prices and availability are checked when you search with dates and guests.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the usual way into town, and many hotels arrange a transfer. Sphinx International, west of Giza, serves some flights and is closer to the Pyramids. Traffic is heavy, so allow plenty of time either way.
Ride-hailing apps are the simplest way around and widely used; the metro is useful on some routes and has carriages reserved for women. Distances are long and traffic is heavy at most hours, so plan one area a day. Walking is easiest in Zamalek, Downtown and the lanes of Islamic Cairo.
Downtown on the Nile or Zamalek for the city centre, and Giza for the Pyramids. Many visitors split their stay between the two.
For an early start at the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, yes. Giza is a long drive from the old city, so many visitors spend a night or two there and the rest in the centre.

From October to April, when the days are warm rather than hot.
The right hotel is not the grandest on the list; it is the one that fits the days you planned. Five checks, in this order.
The booking closed at one price and the bill shows another. Usually that is not a mistake but a local tax.
Two flights at the same price can be very different trips. Everything that tells them apart is already on the result — it only has to be read in the right order.
