The booking infrastructure behind the trip
Rahlio builds the system that turns a free-text travel request into a complete, bookable package — and hands the booking itself to a licensed travel agency that sells it on its own account.
What we do
Rahlio is a software platform for planning and booking travel. The system takes a request in plain language, resolves it into discrete parameters, queries travel suppliers in real time, and assembles complete packages — flights, accommodation, activities, transfers and a day-by-day itinerary — checked against a stated budget and against genuine logistical feasibility.
Two front ends run on the same engine: a consumer site where a traveller plans a trip, and a portal where a licensed travel agency prices, approves and books it with the suppliers. Planning is open to anyone; the sale always passes through a licensed party.
The AI in the system understands requests and writes explanations. It is not a source of price, availability or cancellation terms — those come from the supplier alone, are stored with their source and the time they were checked, and are shown to the user with their confidence level attached.
Who does what in a booking
The chain of responsibility is not implied — it is encoded in the system and snapshotted onto every order. It is also why Rahlio itself does not require a travel agency licence.
| Party | What it does | What it answers for |
|---|---|---|
| The traveller | Describes the trip they want, chooses a package and pays. | They are a customer of the licensed agency, and that agency’s terms govern the sale. |
| Rahlio | Supplies the software: understanding the request, gathering supply, pricing, itinerary construction, and orchestrating the booking with the supplier on the agency’s behalf. | Software availability and information security. Rahlio holds no client funds, is not a party to the travel contract, and does not contract with suppliers in its own name. |
| The travel agency | Holds the licence, the supplier contract and the credit line; sets price and cancellation policy; and sells to the customer. | It is the Merchant of Record. Payment settles into its own account, and the obligation to the customer is its own. |
| The supplier | Provides inventory, price and availability in real time, and issues the booking. | It bills the agency directly under the contract between them. Rahlio does not sit between the two in the flow of funds. |
The traveller
- What it does
- Describes the trip they want, chooses a package and pays.
- What it answers for
- They are a customer of the licensed agency, and that agency’s terms govern the sale.
Rahlio
- What it does
- Supplies the software: understanding the request, gathering supply, pricing, itinerary construction, and orchestrating the booking with the supplier on the agency’s behalf.
- What it answers for
- Software availability and information security. Rahlio holds no client funds, is not a party to the travel contract, and does not contract with suppliers in its own name.
The travel agency
- What it does
- Holds the licence, the supplier contract and the credit line; sets price and cancellation policy; and sells to the customer.
- What it answers for
- It is the Merchant of Record. Payment settles into its own account, and the obligation to the customer is its own.
The supplier
- What it does
- Provides inventory, price and availability in real time, and issues the booking.
- What it answers for
- It bills the agency directly under the contract between them. Rahlio does not sit between the two in the flow of funds.
The result: money moves from the traveller to the agency, and from the agency to the supplier. Rahlio charges the agency a platform fee and never touches the travel funds themselves.
What the system enforces
Facts only, with a source
Every price, opening hour and entry requirement carries a source and the date it was checked. Anything without one is shown as an estimate or as unknown — never as a fact.
No client funds held
Payment settles into the licensed agency’s account. Rahlio does not hold, forward or administer travel funds — a position that holds as the commercial model develops.
Bookings that do not strand a customer
The booking flow is built so that one component failing does not leave a customer with half a holiday: idempotent operations, automatic compensating cancellation, and a full record of every attempt against the supplier.
Commitments preserved as made
Agency terms and the cancellation-fee ladder are snapshotted onto every order. A later policy change cannot retroactively rewrite a deal that has already closed.
